Season 9 - Top 24 Revealed
By the end of tonight, the complete top 24 for this season will be revealed. Last night, 7 of those 24 spots were filled. Tonight, the remaining 37 contestants learn their fate.
First up tonight is Janell Wheeler. She talks about how much this means to her and how badly she wants to be here, but says she’s disappointed in herself after messing up her final solo performance. It’s good news, though- she’s in the top 24.
Something about Tyler Grady annoys us. We can’t quite put our finger on what it is, but we’re going to have to learn to live with it, because he’s in the top 24.
Last year, Lacey Brown made it to the top 50 and the last spot in the top 24 was between her and Megan Joy. Unluckily for us, it’s a different kind of news for her this year and she’s in. She’s not good, though, so we don’t look forward to it.
Crystal Bowersox and Simon discuss the fact that she is really not the kind of singer you usually think of when you consider American Idol. But, she says despite that, she’s glad she’s here and really wants a chance at the title. She gets it- she’s in the top 24. The same goes for Katie Stevens.
Now, it’s back to Angela Martin. This is her third time in Hollywood. The first year, her father had just recently been murdered. The second time around, she ended up having to go to jail to serve a six-day sentence. This time… it’s still bad news. She hasn’t made it to the top 24.
Lilly Scott’s last performance during Hollywood week didn’t go so well, and she says she’ll be very disappointed if she doesn’t make it. She’s spared the disappointment, though- she makes it!
The last remaining spot for a girl comes down to Haeley Vaughn and Tori Kelly. We see this coming, since Haeley has been pimped since her first audition was aired… and we’re right. Haeley is in the top 24.
That means the last guy in the top 24 will be either Thaddeus Johnson or Andrew Garcia. Again, this is no big surprise, and we don’t like it. Thaddeus is cut, and Andrew moves on. Blah.
Next week, the live performances begin with the girls. This year’s top 24 is as follows:
Didi Benami
Paige Miles
Lacey Brown
Ashley Rodriguez
Katelyn Epperly
Michelle Delamor
Katie Stevens

Siobahn Magnus
