Season 9 - Top 20 Results
The results are in, and tonight two more guys and two more girls will be packing their bags. We’ll also see a performance from last season’s third place finisher Danny Gokey.
Things get rolling with a group performance of “I Got a Feeling.” Seriously, do the producers intentionally pick songs that require little to no talent for these group songs? This is a joke.
Right to business- the back row of guys stands. Tim Urban is safe. Seacrest tells Todrick Hall to keep standing. Our fingers are crossed. Michael Lynche and Casey James are both safe, which means either Todrick Hall or John Park is going home. And it’s… John Park. He sings “Gravity” again, and while he doesn’t sound too bad, it’s like watching a robot sing.
Now, time for the front row of guys to learn their fates. Lee Dewyze and Aaron Kelly are safe, and so is Alex Lambert. Andrew Garcia and Jermaine Sellers are asked to step to center stage, like we don’t all already know what’s about to happen. Andrew Garcia is safe, Jermaine Sellers is eliminated. Jermaine runs his mouth some more, then sings badly again. Moving on.
Danny Gokey performs his new single “My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me.” We’re not totally sold on the song, but he’s got a lot more life and stage presence here than he ever had during the show. Good for him.
Now it’s the girls’ turn for some results. The back row stands. Lilly Scott, Paige Miles, Katie Stevens and Didi Benami are all safe. Michelle Delamore is eliminated, which is unfortunate because it means we have to sit through the diva version of Creed again.
And, to round things out- the last set of results. Katelyn Epperly, Crystal Bowersox and Siobhan Magnus are all safe. So it’s down to Haeley Vaughn and Lacey Brown- we don’t care either way, since they’re both terrible. Haeley Vaughn is eliminated, and we’re forced to listen to an even worse rendition of Miley Cyrus than we were subjected to last night.
Next week, the top 16 perform and we find out who’s in this year’s top 12.
