Season 9 - Top 16 Results Show
So, tonight we find out who’s in the top 12. Seacrest says we could be in for a surprise or two, but he says that most weeks, so we’re not too nervous. Not that we would be anyway, with this bunch. We’ll also see a performance from last season’s Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre tonight.
With the small exception of the part that Lee and Michael sing together, the group performance of “Haven’t Met You Yet” is pretty embarrassing. It’s all kinds of cheesy. But having said that, it’s not as horrible as the other group performances this season.
On with the results- the girls are up first. Didi Benami is the first person to make the top 12. She’s followed by Siobhan Magnus, which leaves Paige Miles and Katelyn Epperly standing. We think we know what’s going to happen… but we’re wrong. Paige Miles is in, and Katelyn Epperly is eliminated FAR too early.
On to the guys- Tim Urban, Todrick Hall, Lee Dewyze and Casey James take the stage. Casey and Tim both make the top 12, not surprisingly. We’re nervous for a minute, but Lee makes it and Todrick is eliminated. It’s about time!
Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre finally get to perform “Tell Her About It” on the Idol stage! This was supposed to happen during last year’s finale and was canceled at the last minute. They did perform it together on the tour, but it’s nice to see it again. This is really fun to watch.
So, 8 people remain, but there are only 6 spots in the top 12. Crystal Bowersox is in, which is entirely too predictable. Michael Lynche, Lacey Brown and Aaron Kelly are all also in the top 12.
That leaves the last guy’s stool for either Andrew Garcia or Alex Lambert. We’d love to see Andrew go home, but it doesn’t happen. Alex Lambert is eliminated, Andrew is in the top 12.
So, one stool remains- and Lilly Scott and Katie Stevens still await their fate. Apparently America doesn’t like girls who can actually sing, because Lilly Scott is eliminated and Katie Stevens is in.
Next week’s theme is the music of the Rolling Stones. We’d sooner watch paint dry.
